About the ProgramThe Chemistry Graduate Program at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) offers PhD and master's courses in Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. It has consistently received grade 7 (highest possible score) in the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) evaluation since 2013, which places it among the best Chemistry graduate programs in Brazil. The graduate activities started in 1967 with the master's program. Nowadays, it is one of the most traditional and consolidated programs of the country, with a significant scientific production in highly qualified journals. Furthermore, the program also presents an expressive technological production with a significant number of deposited and granted patents as well as published articles. The highly qualified professors are mainly sponsored by the National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development (CNPq) productivity fellowship, attesting the scientific maturity of this group. The main focus consists in the human resources training. So far, more than 888 masters and 746 doctors graduated in the program and are spread at important Brazilian universities, research centers or working as forensic scientists for the Federal or Civil Police. The program has agreements and collaborations with many Brazilian universities and institutes as well as foreigner's research centers, promoting the exchange of graduate students. It receives scholarships from governmental agencies such as CNPq, CAPES and Foundation of Support Research of the State of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) and also from the private initiative as well as from international agencies such as the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Academic Scholarship Program of the Organization of American States (for more information click here). GOAL The Chemistry Graduate Program at UFMG aims to prepare students for careers in research and teaching at leading academic institutions throughout the world. Graduate studies are conducted on two levels, leading to the degrees of Master of Chemistry and PhD in various expertise. The Master's program trains professionals with solid chemistry knowledge enabling them to fill teaching functions in chemistry and be part of scientific and technological research groups. The PhD program prepares professionals with more comprehensive scientific knowledge to develop original research in chemistry and related fields, independently and with scientific leadership. If you are prepared to embark on a challenging, focused, and meaningful experience, we invite you to explore the possibilities in our PhD Program. |
